| Blue Spring State Park is the most significant winter warm water refuge for endangered manatees in Florida. As many as 100 manatees may be seen in the crystal clear waters of the spring after a major winter cold front. The 400 acres of restored upland habitat is home to many threatened Florida Scrub Jay families as well as Indigo Snakes and Gopher Tortoises.
